Trekking gears checklist

  • Water proof tents (2 person accommodating)-for the camping trek.
  • Foam mattresses, sleeping bag and all cooking and eating utensils along with kitchen staffs for camping trek.
  • Trekking boots (waterproof, there can be raining in the mountains unpredictably. Also, in the snowy region, you should save you feet from frostbite). For walking, tennis shoes are also comfortable.
  • Down jacket.
  • Water bottle in a rucksack.
  • Towel and toiletry kit
  • Underwear
  • Gloves or mittens (according to altitude)
  •  Sleeping bag, warm to 20 degrees F-in alpine altitude, either down or fiberfill (or you can rent one in Kathmandu)
  • Parka, down or fiberfill; a ski jacket is ok
  • Wool shirt or acrylic pile jacket and sweater.
  • Carried by the porter: duffel bag, canvas or nylon, without a frame
  • Daypack or rucksack, waterproof, for you to carry.
  • Non leaking water bottle (1 liter recommended).
  • Head lamp or flashlight
  • Sunglasses or goggles (remember: in the alpine region, UV ray protection glasses are required).
  • Shorts – that are great during the lower altitude treks that are not for the upper section.
  • Socks - two pairs of thick wool or wool/nylon.
  • Shirts – take as per the length of itinerary.
  • Pocket knife (Be sure this is packed in your checked baggage to avoid hassles with airport security).
  • Rainwear.
  • Slippers or sandals for the comfortable wear when you reach to the campsite.
  • In trekking, trekking gears are carried by the porters. You carry only the day pack that has got your valuable stuffs as camera, phone, I paid, binoculars, sunglasses and other emergency equipments. Many types of equipment can be hired in Kathmandu that reduces your burden to carry them with you along.

Peak climbing gears checklist

  • Ropes, ice axe and crampons
  • Foam mattresses, sleeping bag and all cooking and eating utensils
  • 1 Pair of crampons (steel, no aluminum).
  • 1 Alpine climbing harness.
  • 1 Mountaineering axe with leash (your height size)
  • 1 Ascender (right or left handed as appropriate)
  • 1 Belay device, 2 D-Shaped locking carabineers
  • 2 Non-locking carabineers
  • 1 Pair expedition style gaiters Neck gaiter
  • Ski goggles (optional)
  • Climbing helmet
