Lower Dolpo Trekking Overview:

Lower Dolpo Trekking goes through the ancient yak caravan route, in the Trans- Himalayan region of Nepal. It is one of the most isolated parts of Nepal, which is renowned for Bon Po culture, the ancient form of a living, arid landscape, tranquil forest, and the pristine lake of Phoksundo. The trek was opened only in 1989 as a form of restricted trekking that requires a special trekking permit.

The mid-western region of Nepal, where the Dolpo region lies, is so tough to reach and backward in terms of transportation. Flight is only the option for you to go to Dolpo and trek from Juphal. The flight should be connected from Nepalgunj airport. As you begin the trek, the typical lifestyles of the local people can be seen that may surprise you. You encounter the unique lifestyles, wide and arid landscape, sometimes pine, oak, and rhododendron forests, breathtaking Himalayas and ultimately cross some of the high passes as Numa La (5190m) and Baga La (5169m). The turquoise Phoksundo Lake remains another major attraction of the Lower Dolpo, which lies in the Shey Phoksundo National Park. It is also the home of the snow leopard. On the one hand, Lower Dolpo Trek offers a unique experience of trekking in the remote Himalayan region of Nepal and also offers the culture of Bon Po and Tibetan Buddhists on the other.

April to October is generally recognized as the best month of the Lower Dolpo Trekking. Physical fitness and acclimatization are required for a wonderful trip. Vertex Holiday offers highly experienced guides, porters, and camping teams for an excellent trip to the Dolpo region. Please, do not hesitate to enquire us for any questions.
