Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek Overview:

The Short Annapurna Base Camp trek traverses into the beautiful lower land to the Highlands of the Annapurna Himalayas. Seven days Annapurna base camp trek is perfect for trekkers without enough time but seeking to explore Annapurna Base Camp. This trekking route in Nepal is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. ABC (Annapurna base camp) is elevated at an altitude of (4130m) in the Gandaki Province of Nepal.

This Trek goes by other names Annapurna sanctuary trek or ABC Trek; it is a wonderful journey to the base camp of Mt. Annapurna (8091m) which is among the 10th Highest Mountains in the world.

This short trip integrates a picturesque Himalayas landscape, Green lush vegetation with the majority of Rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) with various species of different colors, a friendly Gurung community with charming mountain villages of stone attached houses, Hot spring, glacier, and river gorges. 
This outstanding trip begins with a long drive from Kathmandu to the beautiful city Pokhara, and the next day a one and hour drive to Nayapul then off-road to Madque the trailhead.

The hiking route heads towards Jhinu dada while observing scenic waterfalls and picturesque landscapes amidst the Hiunchuli and Annapurna South mountain views. After ascending almost two hours from Jhinu, the day’s hiking journey reaches Chhomrong, the gateway to Annapurna base camp and Machapuchhre Base Camp.

Chhomrong is a large hilly town of the Gurung ethnic community, with facilities of good accommodation and delicious food including the German bakery. Walking down amidst the village on stone stepped trail to the river crossing via suspension bridge and our tiring ascent to Sinuwa village begins. Here you can see a Himalayan view of Machapuchhre.

From Sinuwa our hike heads to, Dovan and Himalaya inside a  forested trail of Rhododendron, pine, and bamboo trees with a chance of encountering wildlife like barking deer, fox, and several bird species. However, these forests are home to the endangered Red Panda but are extremely difficult to be seen. 

From Himalaya, the trail ascends to Hinku cave then across the avalanche-prone area to reach Deaurali, following Modi River to Machhapuchre base camp (MBC) 3700m continuing on the alpine meadows to (ABC) Annapurna base camp.

The main destination (ABC) is an important place for viewing the incredible golden Annapurna Mountains, for sunrise and sunset. From Base camp one can rejoice in the close-up view of Mt. Annapurna 8091m, Mt Annapurna III 7555m, Mt. Annapurna south 7219m, Mt. Machapuchhre 6993m,  Mt. Gangapurna 7455m, and many other peaks.

After breakfast with amazing views and a wonderful time at the base camp, our journey retraces back to Deurali, Chhomrong to Jhinu, Hot spring, and from Madque drive back to Pokhara.

Annapurna conservation area:

Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP) is the largest protected region in Nepal, covering 7629 sq. meters.  This conservation area covers Kaski, Lamjung, Myagdi, Manang, and Mustang districts.

Annapurna region is enriched with diverse vegetation and wildlife species such as Himalayan Thar, blue sheep, snow leopard, Musk deer, black bear, and many more. The chances of encountering some of the wild animals depend on luck as well as patience.

Short Annapurna base camp Trek Major Attraction:

Panoramic mountain vistas Mountain villages, Gurung indigenous culture, spectacular landscapes, Glaciers, Rivers, waterfalls, wild animals, and harsh topography are the major attractions. Hot spring at short Annapurna base camp Trek:

Jhinu dada is situated in Kaski district near Chhomrong village on the way to the base camp trek. Descending down for the last overnight at Jhinu dada offers several lodges for accommodation. Short downhill hikes to the Modi River gorge and the Hot spring with three pools with different temperatures will be ideal for the relaxation of muscle strain after the tiring journey of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

SPRING SEASON: March To May

The temperature fluctuations are normally 5 to 20 degrees Centigrade, with clear blue skies during the day. Evenings and mornings are mostly chill and sometimes freezing cold. From Chhomrong village onwards all room accommodation is nice and simple with the large warm dining hall. In high tourist season, single supplement rooms are hard to find, which need to be booked well in advance. Most rooms are non-attached bathrooms and toilets. Everyone needs to share common toilets and bathrooms.

As for food, there is a break at every guest house near us overnight and during lunchtime where we will take you to the hotels which will provide excellent food menus to enjoy delicious meals. At Chomrong one can enjoy fresh bakeries also. Therefore, lodges on route ABC serves good healthy meals from continental and Nepalese meals, Dal, Bhat, and, snacks. Few guest house provides Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and Korean foods also.

What to prepare for the short Annapurna base camp trek:

Graded as a moderate trekking trip, Annapurna Base Camp requires all trekkers to be physically active and in good health. As most of the walking includes uphill and downhill on the stone-stepped trails. However comparatively safer considering the elevation, Vertex Holiday advises you to take preparatory exercises at least a couple of weeks prior to departure.

Jogging, swimming, walking on stairs, cardio and various other exercises are fine. However, Yoga and Meditation classes guided by a proper instructor will definitely help your body increase endurance capacity, which is a vital aspect of trekking trips.

This short trek time is limited. Thus a small backpack must be carried to keep your emergency personal materials like snacks, water, toiletries, and other valuables and essential items should be fine.

Besides our company will provide a porter for two trekkers and they will be responsible for carrying your luggage. The maximum weight limit for porters is 28 kg thus your luggage should not exceed kilograms.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel 1,300m

Namaste and welcome to Nepal. After your arrival at Tribhuvan international airport, Vertex Holiday’s representative will receive you and transfer you to the hotel. After getting refreshed, a short briefing and orientation by our company trekking leaders will be conducted. The evening is wonderful with dinner with the Nepali cultural program. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 : kathmandu to pokhara By Tourist bus (850m) 7hrs

From Kathmandu, early morning get up and have delicious breakfast then prepare for the next journey we drive to the beautiful touristic city of Pokhara.   As an option of driving, you can take a flight with additional cost to see the views of Langtang, Manaslu, and Annapurna range of mountain peaks. If driving, tourist buses leave at 7 am and you have to check-in at 6.30 am. Through the winding road, we drive for 7 hours and reach Pokhara. Walking throughout the lakeside city is fabulous. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 : pokhara to Madque _sinuwa (2100m) 7_8 hrs walk

Early morning after breakfast scenic drive from Pokhara to Madque about three hours then start the real journey for the trek, Enjoy the natural view walk up to the village of Chhomrong for lunch. We trek down to the Chhomrong stream passing some lodges. Crossing the stream we gradually climb up and reach Sinuwa. Overnight at lodge.

Day 4 : Sinuwa to Deaurali (3180m) 7-8hrs walk

After breakfast, our trek heads through the forest entering into the Modi Khola valley. The trekking trail today is mixed as we reach the Bamboo village. The tiny village starts to appear as we approach higher. Our trek continues through the bamboo forest to reach Dovan and Himalaya for lunch.  After the Himalaya ascend to the Hinku cave. The trail is isolated and the pristine scenery will astound us. As we are heading through the high altitude, the symptoms of dizziness can be felt. Then we continue climbing to Deurali, enjoying the view magnificent Fishtail. Overnight at lodge.

Day 5 : Deurali to ABC (4130m) 4-6hrs walk

Morning time little bit cold after getting up have breakfast at the same lodge then We proceed to the Annapurna base camp via Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) base camp. Annapurna base camp is in the shape of a natural amphitheater, surrounded by white mountains  Annapurna I, II, Fishtail, Gangapurna, and others. Mostly, this part remains snow-covered. Overnight at a lodge at Annapurna base camp.

Day 6 : Trek to Bamboo (2335m) 7-9hrs walk

With fabulous time enjoying amazing views of high giant mountains within Annapurna Sanctuary and its base camp, your return route leads back to Bamboo on the same trail with downhill walk most of the way with few short climbs on route to your overnight stop at Bamboo village.

Day 7 : Trek To Jhinu Dada pokhara 7-9hrs walk

After getting up early morning and having a delicious breakfast in the mountain after finishing the last breakfast for this trip in the mountain than a short climb to Sinuwa Danda, from here on a long downhill walk to Chomrong River, on crossing a bridge then ascend to Chhomrong village. From Chomrong downhill towards Jhinu Danda, This place is famous for its natural hot spring, and continue walking to Mdque by the  River for the drive back to Pokhara.

After completing your Journey walk on the high hills of Annapurna then around three-hour drives bring you back again beautiful city  Pokhara with a memorable time in  Annapurna Region.
