Trishuli River is the
most popular river for rafting in Nepal, as well as for kayaking due to its easy
accessibility. The river flows along the main highway of Nepal, a few hour
drive from the capital city Kathmandu and scenic Pokhara.
The name Trishuli means a trident a weapon of Hindu God Shiva. The river is also joined by three major tributaries Budi Gandaki, Masrsyangdi, and Seti eventually becomes a wide Narayani River. Trisuli River is the source from the glaciers of the massive Ganesh and Langtang Himal ranges. It flows down south to mid-hills and then at low warm Terai which makes Trishuli an enjoyable Rafting Rivers.

1
Morning having early breakfast or on route
to ‘Put-In Point’ of Rafting at Chauradhi village, our staff will pick you up
from the hotel. A drive on a car, coach, or bus according to group size, on
leaving the city suburb and beyond Kathmandu valley. On drive enjoy distant
views of Langtang, Ganesh, and Manaslu as far to Annapurna Himalayas in the far
west. A downhill ride on the winding road for an hour than on a good smooth
main highway of the country. Drive through farm towns and villages past
Naubise, Galche, and Malekhu then reaching Chauradhi a roadside village. The
river is not too far from the road-head, walk to the bank of Trisuli River
where the captain/guide of the boat and rafting crews will welcome you.
Lunch depending upon time permitting,
either on the sandy beach of Trisuli River or downstream beaches. A
picnic-style lunch with bread, noodles, canned fish, meats and salads, fresh
seasonal fruits with cold orange or lemon drinks.
Captain the head river guide, will brief on
safety measures, paddling technique skills required especially on big rapids.
After getting geared up with helmets, life-jackets, Rafters needs to wear
shorts and T-shirts, water-proof suits as optional.
The captain will guide you to your seats on the side tube of the raft after getting hold of a paddle each. Valuables like cameras, cell-phone, etc are put in a water-proof barrel. Raft downstream as the captain gives orders from like back, right, left paddling as you come across smaller waves and going through a bouncy rapid Ladies Delights, and then soon encounter Monsoon rapids. The captain might stop the boat, before heading the big rapid called ‘Upset’ to scout for the best way to enjoy and to conquer the notorious Upset rapids with curly waves.
Getting ready sitting tight, go through
Upset rapid the most exciting thrill of the day. After a safe and enjoyable
dramatic movement, soon paddle through another great rapid called ‘Surprise’,
close on the roadside village of Fisling.
Enjoying the rapid Surprise, paddle
downstream, and going through the last small exciting ‘Bijali’ Rapid. Means
electrifying, as excitement happens all of a sudden, slowly raft reaches the
bank of Trisuli River near Kurin-Ghat nice village.
End the day full of exciting activities
paddling, and going through the thrill of various rapids. A short walk uphill
to the roadside and the village with shops and stores, where our vehicles will
be waiting with your dry clothes.
After getting dressed up in normal dry clothes head back to Kathmandu, after an exciting and memorable adventure on Trisuli River Rafting.
Options for interested people, after ending
the day rafting at Kurin-Ghat village one can drive to scenic Pokhara or
towards Chitwan National Park for a jungle safari. The other option is to stay
in wayside river resorts and enjoy a cable car ride to the holy temple of
Mankamana, located on a hilltop across River Trisuli.
The cost differs as the standard of local companies wise, from US$ 30 to US$ 50 per person and that’s depending upon the group size. For less number of minimum can reach more than the mentioned figure. For larger groups from 6-10 or more, the price will be lower and much affordable. The day rafting runs for 2-3 hours that including picnic lunch by the river beach and transportation of a few hours either from Kathmandu or Pokhara.
Normally all rafting ‘put in point’ of 2-hour drive from Kathmandu to a village of Charaudi, located on the main highway. Depending upon the skill and fitness of the clients, sometimes for family and elderly people rafting starts from a place called Fishling also, which is further down from Charaudi. For two days rafting ends further downstream enjoying all the rapids, near Chitwan at Ghaighat, close to the highway coming from Chitwan towards Kathmandu or Pokhara.
For rafting depending upon season-wise, the area of rafting in Trisuli is usually a warmer climate, wearing T-shirts and shorts, for people that feel cold can protect wearing waterproof light jackets. Wearing sports shoes will be the best in case you fall can float with your legs upright to kick off the obstacles.
Nearly all seasons of the year except the monsoon time from July to mid-September months. The best is in spring from March to May and autumn season from September to November, one can enjoy during winter times of December to February, but cold morning and night time.
For two days rafting, overnights in a riverside lodge, resorts there are many good cottages and huts of Tourist standard accommodation and restaurants serving international foods. Where one can also have an option for tented camping, normally in big groups where all meals will be prepared by camping cook and rafting staff.
